The Last Exorcism

I hadn’t heard of this one until recently and honestly I had no interest in it at all as the last few movies based on exorcism have been little more than horrible attempts at trying to replicate the Exorcist which is without a doubt the most impressive movie about exorcism ever made.   I will never forget the disturbing scenes with Regan up in that room when they tired to bring the demon out of her.

Thus looking at the new trailer for The Last Exorcism I was surprised to find that it looks creepy and sort of fun as well.   It is filmed documentary style sort of like The Blair Witch Project or last years Paranormal Activity.    The thing that interests me about the trailer the most is the part where all the sudden he’s trying to bring the demon out and there it is out and about.   The last exorcism movie that I saw The Exoricsm of Emily Rose really bored me because it dealt so little with the actual exorcism part and instead focused on the trail around it.

The Last Exorcism is produced by Eli Roth and is being released by Lionsgate August 27th.

The Official Plot Synopsis:

Evangelical Minister Marcus Cotton goes to the rural areas of Louisiana  to the farm of Louis Sweetzer to perform an exorcism on the mans daughter who is possessed by a demon.  Cotton has done many of these over the years but this one is to be his last,  the only thing is once he arrives he meets a demon of true evil that does not wish to leave the girl that it possess and things take a turn for the worst for everyone involved.

The Last Exorcism was written by Huck Botko & Andrew Gurland and directed by Daniel Stamm.
